What matters now

  • The rarer combination: high quality (72/100) AND below fair value. That earns a closer look rather than a quick verdict.
  • The price is below even our cautious bear case (HK$9.61). The market is more pessimistic than our downside scenario.

Analysis

Guangdong Investment Ltd (0270) currently trades at HK$8.82, while our model-based Fair Value estimate is HK$12.82, implying the stock looks roughly 31.2% undervalued today. The Quality Score stands at 72/100 (solid quality), in the Utilities sector. Bull case: the DCF Models group reads highest at a median of HK$15.60 per share, and 18 of the 26 models we run sit above the HK$8.82 price. Bear case: the Asset-Based group reads lowest at HK$4.40, and 8 of the 26 models stay below the price. Evidence for this calculation is medium.

Over the trailing twelve months, Guangdong Investment Ltd generated revenue of HK$19.3B at a net margin of 24.9%. Revenue grew 9.3% year over year. It earns a return on equity of 9.2%. Net debt stands at HK$7.1B. Fundamentals as of Aug 13, 2026

Our scenario range runs from HK$9.61 (bear case) to HK$16.02 (bull case); at HK$8.82, the current price sits below that range. Bear and bull are the same models run on conservative and optimistic assumptions (margins, growth, valuation multiples), so a plausible valuation range, not a price target. The last reported earnings sit well below what analysts expect (earnings in transition, for example after write-downs or an earnings dip); whether the stock is cheap or expensive hinges on the expected recovery actually arriving. Read the fair value with that caveat. The share trades near its 52-week high and 44% above its 52-week low, currently above its 200-day average. For context, the median of 10 Utilities peers we cover trades at −33% fair-value upside, at 45%, 0270 screens cheaper than that median.

Fair Value models

This estimate rests on fiscal year 2025 figures, and about 8 months have passed since. In that time the company retained roughly HK$0.2842 per share, which is 2.2 % of the fair value. The fair value deliberately does not add this in: the models value reported figures, not a projection.

Each model estimates fair value its own way; the Fair Value above is the evidence-weighted, family-balanced blend. Evidence (0–100) measures how completely this model’s inputs are available: well-fed models carry more weight in the blend. The spread across models is intentional, each one stresses a different value driver; dividend models, for instance, come out structurally low when payout is small. Every input is real reported data, nothing guessed.

Model Bear Bear = the cautious scenario: the same model computed with conservative anchors (lower growth, margins and valuation multiples). Together with Bull it frames a plausible valuation range, not a price target.BaseBull Bull = the optimistic scenario: the same model computed with favourable anchors (higher growth, margins and valuation multiples). Together with Bear it frames a plausible valuation range, not a price target. Evidence
