How to connect ChatGPT step by step

On your phone? Two things first

A custom connector can only be added in a browser on a computer; the Claude and ChatGPT phone apps do not have the button. Copy the server URL here or send yourself the guide, then it takes two minutes on a computer.

Two common pitfalls, read these first
  1. Do this in a browser on a computer, not the phone app. The button is missing in the app.
  2. Use "Add custom connector", not the connector search. Our connector is added by its address, the search will not find it.
  1. Important: open chatgpt.com in a browser on a computer, not the phone app. Sign in.
  2. Open Settings and go to "Connectors", which newer versions call "Plugins"; Developer Mode sits there under "Advanced".
  3. Do NOT browse the directory. Choose "Add custom connector".
  4. Enter the name: Fair Value Calculator. Paste this server URL: https://www.fairvalue-calculator.com/mcp
  5. If asked for "OAuth Client ID" and "Client Secret": leave both EMPTY, our server registers the connector automatically.
  6. Sign in with your FVC account via OAuth and confirm the permissions with "Allow".
  7. Open a new chat and ask: "Evaluate Apple with the Fair Value Calculator".
  8. For watchlist and alert: in ChatGPT under Settings, Plugins, Fair Value Calculator, set the permission so that ChatGPT asks before changes. With the default "Allow low-risk tools" ChatGPT does not carry out changes.
